Module Indicative Content
This course will consider the social and cultural construction of normal and abnormal bodies and behaviour. We will consider issues including the overt and covert regulation of the body, particularly by medical and legal institutions. We will examine polluted and polluting bodies; celebratory bodies; the creation of sexual deviance; transgressive bodies, medical technology and intervention; sick bodies and the sociology of death.
