ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Literature review of 1,000 words (formative assessment)
Report of 3,500 words 100% (summative assessment)
Learning Outcomes 1-4
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module is unique in that it is able to replace any Level 6 option module where the module leader is absent for a substantial portion of the module and this is known to be the case in advance thus there is no prescriptive syllabus for the module. Using the Blackboard presence of the module to be replaced, students will access the programme of study and the reading lists and any other resources previously made available for them. They will develop a project from these related to the indicative content of the replaced module and guided by the reading list. This will be negotiated with a tutor and an allocated guidance tutor will provide guidance, support and feedback to the student as she/he works independently to complete the project. The specific content will be dependent on the module to be replaced.
NB: Only one option module is to be replaced at any one time with this module.
LEARNING STATEGIES
The initial meeting will be a group meeting in which students will be made aware of the situation and this module explained to them. They will produce a topic to be negotiated with the tutor within a week. The topic will come from those covered in the module which is not running. The second session will be where the topics are discussed and refined and a guidance supervisor is allocated. Thereafter the student will meet with the guidance supervisor for periods up to 6 hours in total. These guidance and feedback meetings can be frequent and of short duration or less frequent and of longer duration and this is negotiated between the student and the guidance supervisor. The literature review may be incorporated into the finished report after feedback has been provided.
Within the written assignment, the student will be expected to reflect on their learning and independent work.
