Module Learning Strategies
For 300 hours, of which 12 will comprise supervision. At each stage of the research project you will have a schedule of regular on-line progress meetings. The project progresses through stages which include deciding on a research problem, choosing an area for study and appropriate research methods through to conducting the research and fashioning a research report. As a fundamentally practical module the bulk of the your work involves you learning through doing. By carrying out a limited research project you willt acquire a practical competence in the various components of the selected method.

Module Indicative Content
An overview of the potential of qualitative and quantitative methodology is outlined in the previous module 'Research Methods Awareness'. In Research Practice, you will select a single research method and employing it, carry out a small manageable research project. You will choose a research method and in tandem decide upon a research problem and research design. The content covered is thus strictly determined by your choice from within the spectrum of possibility offered within research methods. This module offers an appreciation of the processual nature of research practice. Research design, data collection and analysis, reporting findings.
