Module Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered in a 12 week semester and alternatively through block teaching.
12 week semester delivery
10 x 2 hour whole group sessions to introduce key themes by means of lectures and group discussions ( 20 hours)
2 X 2 hour workshops on poster preparation and life-story mapping (4 hours)
Nb This module will have elements of experiential learning as students explore how to produce
effective posters and life-maps. However, students will not be expected to disclose personal
information in the group about which they do not feel comfortable.
1 x 1 hour individual tutorials to support students in their individual posters and life mapping assessment tasks. (1 hour)
Block teaching delivery: details will be advertised separately
Independent study for background reading, exploration of materials and preparation of posters and life story maps ( 125 hours)

Module Indicative Content
This introductory module explores the contemporary debate about spirituality, from a humanist/secular as well as from religious perspectives. It introduces students to the concepts of `world-view' , meaning, purpose and resilience, and how these concepts are important in life-planning and dealing with major life events and crises. The use of `life-story maps' as a useful tool will also be explored.

A Poster presentation (contributes to Learning outcome 1) (10mins max)
A personal life-story map with commentary (1,000 words max contributes to Learning outcome 2)
Students must pass both elements of assessment in order to pass the module

Feedback and guidance will be given on poster presentation techniques and life-story maps to help students prepare for summative assessment.
