Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module forms part of the award structure of the University Certificate in Promoting Resilience and Stability for Children in Care

The purpose of this module is to provide students with an underpinning knowledge of child development and to explore its impact on the child's resilience and attachment. Students will also identify their own attachment style and its impact and relevance on their work with children.

Students will explore barriers in promoting participation from discriminated groups.

The module will explore the key stages of child development , the impact of trauma, abuse and neglect; neurological development; attachment and resilience theory; disability, needs of minority ethnic children, child observation within their professional role.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A 2000 case study based on child/young person drawn from the learners own practice that will include an engagement with models of child development theories and their application to their specialist role. (All Learning Outcomes)

Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Formative Assessment will be based on the learners developing an assignment plan and sharing this with peers and the teaching team through the assignment workshop.

Module Special Admissions Requirements
This module is open to Foster Carers, who work within the Local Authorities/Private and Voluntary Sector Fostering and Adoption Services who are registered as Foster Carers. The module will also be available for members of the Children and Young People¿s workforce for their continuous professional development.
