Module Special Admissions Requirements
This module is open to Foster Carers, who work within the Local Authorities/Private and Voluntary Sector Fostering and Adoption Services who are registered as Foster Carers. The module will also be available for members of the Children and Young People¿s workforce for their continuous professional development.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A 15 minute Individual Presentation and a 1000 word written commentary drawn from the students case load
Addresses all of the Learning Outcomes.
Both elements need to be completed

Formative Assessment will be based on the learners developing an assignment plan and sharing this with peers and the teaching team through the assignment workshop.
Module Indicative Content
This module forms part of the award structure of the University Certificate in Promoting Resilience and Stability for Children in Care.
The purpose of this module is to provide students with an underpinning knowledge of psychological responses to change and supporting children and young people in their key transitions.
Students will explore their own experience of change and reflect on its impact on their work with children and young people.
The module will focus on key legal and policy frameworks that underpin and support Young People in their transition to adulthood. This will include Young People with Disabilities and their Transition to Adult Social Care, Young People leaving care.
The module will also focus on the role of advocacy for children, and will include principals of participation in decision making about their plans.
Topics covered in this module include:
Law, the change curve, separation and loss, talking to teenagers, assessing social competence, identity, children with disabilities, raising participation, young people in transition.
