Service User and Carer Group ( SUCG) Involvement

Members of the SUCG will be invited to be involved in some of the Bb based discussions as Teaching Assistants on key themes for this module

Members of the SUCG will also be invited to serve on the assessment panel with social work practitioners and academic staff to assess the students¿ presentations and commentaries
Module Indicative Content
1) a critical evaluation of major Government reports on aspects of social work, with particular emphasis upon the response to Lord Laming; the Personalisation agenda; care for vulnerable adults,; mental health and disability developments and legislation; and the implications for social work practice¿
2) a critical appraisal of the role and application of theoretical perspectives to social work practice;
3) a critical appraisal of the role of values and ethics in informing competent reflective social work practice

Module Additional Assessment Details
1. Verbal presentation, with powerpoint, of an individually prepared case-study based on the student's Honours Level Practice Learning Opportunity 20 minutes (contributes to meeting LO 3)
2. An accompanying commentary on the presentation 2,500 words (contributes to meeting LO's 1 & 2)

Students must pass both elements

Formative assessment
Tutors will give general feedback on student discussions via Bb discussion group contributions
Practice teachers will explore the key themes of this module in their regular supervision sessions with the student
Draft outlines of the student's chosen theme for the presentation will be commented upon by academic tutors
