Module Additional Assessment Details
An ASSIGNMENT weighted at 100% - learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3.
This will require the student to identify an issue which impacts on practice within her/his placement setting, identify a specific focus for investigation, review relevant literature and identify the implications of the findings for her/his own practice. The assignment requires students to reflect on their current practice in respect of the issue they have identified, and also to identify and appraise evidence.
Word length: 5.000 words

Formative assessment:
Tutors will give feedback on a brief assignment plan produced by the student. Students will also be able to discuss their choice of issue and focus with their practice educators during supervision.
Module Indicative Content
1) a critical evaluation of major Government reports on aspects of social work, with particular emphasis upon the response to Lord Laming; the Personalisation agenda; care for vulnerable adults,; mental health and disability developments and legislation; and the implications for social work practice¿
2) a critical appraisal of the role and application of theoretical perspectives to social work practice;
3) a critical appraisal of the role of values and ethics in informing competent reflective social work practice

Service User and Carer Group ( SUCG) Involvement

Members of the SUCG will be invited to be involved in some of the Bb based discussions as Teaching Assistants on key themes for this module

Members of the SUCG will also be invited to serve on the assessment panel with social work practitioners and academic staff to assess the students¿ presentations and commentaries
