Module Special Admissions Requirements
Students will be required to hold a recognised Professional Qualification in Social work recognised by the General Social Care Council.
Students will be required to be registered or able to register with the GSCC (General Social Care Council) social care register.
All entrants will be required to complete a satisfactory enhanced Criminal Records Bureau that will be organised and managed by the Employers.

Module Additional Assessment Details
The assessment for the module consists of the following two elements:
1. Individual Strengths, Learning, Opportunities and Threats Analysis. (addressing LO's 1 and 3) weighted 20%
2. A 2000 word Critical Incident Analysis that will explore key changes in social work practice in safeguarding and protecting children and young people. The assignment will enable to the students to make practice links with their practice experience. (addressing LO's 1, 2 and 4) weighted 80%
both elements of assessment must be passed
Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Formative feedback and assessment will take the form of a small group non assessed presentation focussing on the plan for the Critical Incident Analysis. This will be enhanced with the support from a personal tutor.
Student will be supported and mentored by practice educators within the work shadowing provided by the partner agencies, this will enrich the teaching and learning experience and provide a direct link to practice. Students will be expected to complete a journal to meet the requirements of the work shadowing experience.
Module Indicative Content
This module prepares qualified social workers who previously left children's services to return to practice. The course will enable the student to practice existing skills, develop new skills in line with new requirements, update themselves with current practice and legislation, and prepare themselves for the world of social work in the 21st century.

Learning time at the university will be 10 days x 5 hours = 50 hours

60 hours Work on assignments to include Blackboard supported learning in preparation for formative assignment and discussion forums.
