Module Indicative Content
This module builds upon the Foundation module to address the development of the self as a safe and effective practitioner. You will explore how to manage yourself confidently within the boundaries of professional accountability and autonomy. The development of emotional resilience and the recognition of self when interacting with others are fundamental to practice. You will explore differing models of reflection that can be utilised in practice and applied to formal quality assurance processes including supervision.
You will focus on the impact of culture and diversity and develop a range of approaches to challenge the inequality.
Research skills and methods are analysed to enhance and develop the ability to systematically find, critique and challenge the value and applicability of research used as an evidence base for social work practice.
Module Additional Assessment Details
The method of assessment for this module will be:
Formative assessment: Participation in a discussion forum which critiques a piece of research chosen by the tutor.
1 A poster presentation of current research on a chosen issue relevant to social work practice 20 - 30 minutes - weighted at 25%, assess Learning Outcomes 1 & 2.
2 A 3500 reflective analysis of a chosen case from your own practice which demonstrates the application of research to practice and critically analyses the impact of the supervision process on the development of the professional self - weighted at 75%, assess Learning Outcomes 3 & 4
Both summative assessments have to be passed. Combined they assess all Learning Outcomes.
