Module Indicative Content
The content of this module will cover the major aspects of technique applicable to Swimming, Track and Field Athletics, Racket Sports. Basic theoretical principles underpinning movement and safety will be covered. It will also consider the application of the principles of coaching, teaching and instruction to the three areas. The rules, regulations, governing bodies and officiating of the chosen activity will be covered.
Racket sports may be badminton, squash or tennis
Module Additional Assessment Details
There will be three separate pieces of summative assessment:-
A movement analysis exercise will be performed in Swimming, Track and Field Athletics, Racket Sports, assessing LOS 1, 2 & 3
Further assessment details: This is a typical form of assessment in the practical coaching environment where coaches/teachers/ instructors are required to observe a performance and produce a written analysis. This tests the ability to observe, analyse, compare with expectations and apply principles. In this case, students would not know the movement to be assessed and hence would be comparable to an unseen examination.
Additional Assessment Details (including formative feedback / assessment:
This form of assessment can be undertaken in video format in a classroom and in a field setting during practical sessions, hence formative feedback would be a normal part of a weekly session.
The skill would be practiced at regular intervals during contact hours.
