Module Indicative Content
The course covers:

1. Selected theoretical approaches to understanding human behaviour within sports settings.

2. Basic processes underlying learning and performance in sport using a human cognitive module

3. Selected psychological theories that have been applied to exercise adoption, participation and adherence.

Students will participate in a combination of lectures, experiential laboratories and independent learning designed
to illustrate and explore relevant concepts.
Module Learning Strategies
12 x 1 hour tutor-led lecture programme
5 x 2 hour laboratory sessions
88 hours student-led independent study including assigned readings (24 hours) and self study material via Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) (64 hours)
40 hours preparation for the 2000 word portfolio assessment.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete 1 piece of summative assessment.

1 x 2000 word portfolio which will assess learning outcomes 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. This will consist of a series of short answer questions based on material covered in the lectures and laboratory sessions. It will also incorporate a laboratory report.

Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via VLE directed assignment and sample questions on module related topics.
