Module Details
Module Indicative Content
The content of this module will cover the major aspects of technique applicable to an individual sporting activity (eg athletics, swimming). It will also consider the application of the principles of coaching and teaching to the chosen activity. The progressive practices commonly employed to introduce the sport or activity will be used to illustrate the theoretical content. The rules, regulations, governing bodies and officiating of the chosen activity will also be covered.
Module Learning Strategies
12 x 1 hour tutor-led lectures will form an important part of the learning.
12 x 1 hour practical sessions will enable students to gain experiential learning.
126 hours of independent study will comprise background reading, observation of teaching and coaching sessions in the chosen sport / activity, plus video recordings and television coverage.

Lecture theatre with video facilities.
Adequate facilities for chosen sport / activity.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students are required to complete 1 piece of summative assessment:
A class test of 50 minutes duration to assess LOs 1 and 2.
