This module aims to give the student an understanding of the roles and limitations of the sports therapist. It will explore relationships with other agencies and healthcare professionals, legal and ethical issues affecting the sports therapist, and will introduce good practice and professionalism.

Legal and ethical requirements will be investigated, including Health & Safety, Risk Assessment, Accident Reporting, and record keeping.

This module will include a first aid course giving the student a sound understanding of first aid issues and implementation both in a work and athletic environment. The first aid component will also cover safe and effective handling of casualties in a field situation using relevant ambulation techniques and aids.

Finally the role of the professional body (SST) will be examined and career progression / development of the sports therapist will be investigated.
