Module Learning Strategies
During this module students will complete small scale vocationally relevant projects allowing them to demonstrate developing work based knowledge and skills.

Students will follow a thirty week guided study programme and access support material via the college VLE. The module will consist of 3 hours per week.

The module will include:
90 taught contact hours (3 hours X 30 weeks)
2 hours taught
1 hour seminar discussion per week

210 Independent study hours
60 hrs background reading,
60 hrs assessment planning
90 hrs assessment writing
Module Additional Assessment Details
All assessment elements of the module must be passed.

Project Proposal - 1,000 words - 40% (LOs 1 & 2)
A proposal for an investigation into a specific area of sports development and/or coaching.

Report - 2,000 words - 60% (LOs 3 & 4)
A report detailing the aim of the investigation, a review of literature, key findings and recommendations. (1,500 words)
Reflective statement addressing how completing the investigation has contributed to your personal and professional development (500 words)

All elements, including your reflective statement, must be supported by references to appropriate literature and referenced according to appropriate academic conventions.

Module Indicative Content
This module gives you the opportunity to
- identify, in negotiation with your tutor, an area of interest within the workplace and develop a proposal for investigation.
- You will be introduced to research methodologies through taught sessions and you will be required consider how sports development and coaching practice is based on research evidence.
- You will also be supported as you begin to develop skills of critical appraisal.

The module will culminate in the completion of a small scale pilot study.
