Module Additional Assessment Details
A 2000 word report, assessing all LO's and is worth 100% of the module grade.
The report will investigate and discuss internal and external factors affecting modern football and the impact these factors have on the perception and the levels of participation in the game. The report should discuss 4 of the given topics (Racism, Sexism, Drugs, Commercialisation, Hooliganism, Media Impact, Historical Development of Football).

Students will receive formative feedback in class throughout the module comprising a combination of task related feedback and comments regarding the discussion contributions offered up throughout the module. Students will deliver presentations in seminars as a form of formative assessment

Module Indicative Content
The central aim of the module is to engage students in critical debates about key issues in sports development and coaching.
The module will include;
The module aims to provide students with (1) the ability to examine the external and internal conflicts and issues within modern football and the results of the affects on the development of the sport. (2) the knowledge and awareness of the factors that affect perception and participation of the sport. (3) Reviews on the extent to which policies affecting football development reflects contemporary societal issues such as gender, race and culture, education and sport in school. (4) Analyses the historical development of English football, focusing specifically on the time period post 1980s.
