Module Indicative Content
The module aims to provide students with (1) the underpinning knowledge of the local, regional and national Football structure. (2) the knowledge of how football development strategies from a National perspective through to regional, voluntary, private and professional providers carry out their work. (3) the knowledge and awareness of the existing barriers to participation in football and the social groups that these barriers affect and how football development target these groups. (4) Analyse contemporary local, regional and national football development initiatives that exist, these will be investigated, supported by relevant government and departmental documents.
Teaching will include:
- National Structure & Strategy of the FA
- Regional & Local Structure & Strategy of the County FA
- Structure of Voluntary, Private & Professional organisations
- Barriers which limit the amount of participation in the game of Association Football
- Current initiatives which help to reduce such barrier
Module Additional Assessment Details
Assessment 1
A 1500 word written report weighted at 50% targeting LO's 1 and 2. The report will highlight the structure of football development within the UK and discuss the work that is carried out by these providers.
Assessment 2
An individual 10-15 minute presentation weighted at 50% targeting LO's 3 and 4. The presentation will discuss the barriers associated with football participation and its subsequent development and it will highlight how current football initiatives target these barriers.
Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Formative feedback will be received throughout the course of the module based on ongoing tasks and seminar presentations delivered by learners.
All elements of assessment, including any reflective work, must be supported by references to appropriate literature and referenced according to appropriate academic conventions within APA style.
Module Learning Strategies
Learners will follow a thirty week guided programme of study
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (90 hours) 90 Hours over 30 weeks.
It is envisaged that 2 hours per week will be Lecture delivery
and 1 hour per week seminar discussions and tasks
Guided Independent Study: (210 hours)
60 hours background reading,
60 hours assessment planning and coaching planning
90 hours assessment writing and coaching plan preparation
