The module introduces the student to the study of UK sports policy. It includes an overview of:
• Macro- and meso- levels of policy analysis - the policy process, the use of power and how policy has been analysed.
• The organisation and administration of sport - who is involved and what role they play.
• Sport policy and party politics - government involvement and interventions in sport and physical activity.
• Sport, physical activity and health policy - government policies / institution and relationships between departments.
• Contemporary government policy: examples of current policies and programmes.
Assessment Details
1. A SEEN EXAM length 90 Mins weighted at 100%. Assessing LO's 1, 2 and 3. FINAL ASSESSMENT.
Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Students will sit a mock examination prior to the module examination. To facilitate understanding of the requirements of the final examination feedback on the mock examination will be provided through tutor led discussion in a group setting, allowing two-way discussion and clarification.
A formative group presentation based upon the essay content will provide an opportunity for formative feedback in preparation for the essay.

This module contains a combination of face to face and blended learning. Lectures and seminars will be interactive and require full participation. Some seminars will be student led and facilitated by the lecturer. Independent study tasks will be set but further idependant study will be required. This may include reading around module topics, discussion based activities or investigating current theories associated wth the module. Student led independant study will be required specifcally for assessment preparation.
