Module Details
Module Learning Strategies
Students will have a 15 week tutor-led lecture programme and learning materials will be accessed through the Moodle vle.

3 hours per week, totalling 45 hours:
- 15x 2 hours tutor led workshop programme
- 15 x 1 hour tutorial

105 hours student - led independent study consisting of:
- 30 hrs background reading
- 30 hrs report planning
- 45 hours report writing

Module Indicative Content
This module will give students the opportunity to:

- Reflect on their future options
- Explore their skills, values and personality
- Research possible career options, by using various sources
- Develop their job application skills by producing written applications
- Consider how to plan and prepare for a selection interview
- Write a plan of action
- Reflect on their work placement and how their career aspirations fit into the wider context of sports development and coaching

Professional ethics will be discussed and students will need to show an awareness of the workforce development within the sector (including Sports Development, Education, National Governing Bodies, Private Sports Providers and Volunteers) Research skills will also be assessed.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A 2,000 word Portfolio weighted at 100%.

A Portfolio, covering:

Self Development: An account of the students career-related skills, abilities, values, including evidence. (Learning Outcome 1)

Career Exploration: This will include a consideration of the options open, and in depth research into one option including a comparison with personal career criteria. (Learning Outcomes 2)

Career Management: To include examples of written applications, a summary of a mock interview and a plan of action to implement career plans. (Learning Outcome 3)
