Module Learning Strategies
You will need to attend all scheduled practical sessions and participate as a coach throughout.
The long-term planning and development of individual sessions, working with a team or an individual, will demand additional commitment of time. You will need to observe a range of experienced higher level coaches, in a number of disciplines (team sports, indoor/outdoor, individual sports/activities) and understand the ethics and etiquette of these disciplines. You will need to be organised in order to be effective - personal discipline and time-management skills will be essential. You will need to watch high-level team and individual performance and read widely around the subject.

Formative feedback
As this unit requires the student to work closely with both the tutor and (peer) performers throughout, there will be a continuous process of giving and receiving feedback, particularly during and after practical sessions and workshops. In addition, the student is required to present a module file for assessment. Formative feedback will be provided by the tutor via a series of interim reviews of the module file approximately every 6 weeks.

Philosophy of coaching, coach-performer relationships, coaching style, contemporary issues in sport, external pressures, additional requirements of the athlete (eg psychological profiling)
Video and computer analysis of motion, technique, tactics, manual recording, statistical evidence, models of analysis, performance and training parameters
Coaching implications: communication, designing practice, implementing change, performance profiling
