Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete 2 pieces of summative assessment:

1) 50 minute in-class, short answer, unseen test (assessing LOs 1, 2 & 3), worth 50% of the overall module

2) A 1000 word reflective coursework essay that tasks the student to analyse their own learning and
development as a coach that they experienced during the module (assessing LOs 1, 3 & 4) worth 50% of the module assessment.

Additional Assessment Details (including formative feedback / assessment:
Students will typically undergo various types of informal & formal assessment primarily centred around planning, organising and conducting short coaching sessions (assessing LO 3), (Such assessments are typically used by NGB's to establish student competence levels for award of level 1 coaching certification)
Module Indicative Content
The module aims to further develop students' knowledge and ability in coaching and teaching. Content will cover various coaching and teaching models, styles and philosophies. Principles of effective teaching and coaching will be considered across a range of sports and in a range of contexts, for example, adapting activities to suit individual needs. Various methods of analysing sports performance, including observation, motion analysis and notation analysis will be covered. Students will also be strongly encouraged to attend one National Governing Body (NGB) level 1 coaching award. This will equip students with the opportunity to acquire a valuable, nationally recognised coaching award in a sport of their choice.
