Module Indicative Content
This module looks at the components, outcomes, goals and objectives of a rehabilitation programme form acute stage to post-discharge.
The tools available to assess and rehabilitate function will be considered along with the pathological and physiological signs and symptoms that may influence the rehabilitation process.
Specific rehabilitation tools (including mobilisation/stretching techniques and advanced, specific training methods) will be developed and their uses within the rehabilitation process will be critically analysed.
Finally, the benefits and implications of strapping and taping techniques will be discussed and the student will learn to select and apply appropriate strapping techniques.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete 2 piece of summative assessment:
1. Produce a 2000-word written report of a rehabilitation programme (including detailed case notes, supporting rationale, evaluation and critical reflection). (LOs 1 & 2) 50%
2. Practical examination of competencies in delivering a safe, effective and relevant sports rehabilitation programme (LOs 1,2 & 3) 50%
All elements of assessment MUST be passed to achieve an overall pass on the module.
Additional Assessment Details (including formative feedback / assessment:
Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via workshop sessions within which students will be continually provided with feedback on their progress, as each workshop will contribute progressively towards the final summative assessment.
