Module Indicative Content
This extends the study of sport and exercise through an original research project, and involves the processes of collecting, analysing and reporting. An understanding of research methodologies and the appropriate use of statistics in the measurement of specific outcomes is developed. Learners are expected to make use of knowledge gained in other units, and to extend that knowledge in particular areas of interest. They are required to give a five minute presentation on a research proposal, carry out a literature review, collect qualitative or quantitative data, use appropriate statistical tests to evaluate the data, and present the project in a specified format.
Module Additional Assessment Details
1 x 10 minute presentation covering outcomes 1 & 2
1 x 10 minute presentation covering outcome 3
1 x written report covering outcomes 4 & 5 (3000 words)

N.B. Hard copy of any material presented for assessment of outcomes 1, 2, 3 should be provided by the student and included in the annexe to the final written report.

Formative feedback
Because of the nature of this unit, specific feedback will be given to each student by the tutor during each phase of the project via workshops, tutorials and presentations covering planning, research, collation, analysis and presentation.
