Module Indicative Content
This placement module aims to provide experience of learning from and applying knowledge to a school or youth sport related working environment. Each student is given the opportunity to undertake a specific and relevant work based project that is agreed by the supervising tutor, the host organisation and the student. The module provides students with the opportunity to increase their knowledge of school or youth sport environment life and practices, whilst developing key personal and transferable skills by applying their knowledge & skills to a school environment. Child protection issues will be covered.

Module Additional Assessment Details
1. A 2500 word (or equivalent) project in a format agreed with the University supervisor and school/youth sport organisation liaison person, in line with S & E guidelines. In exceptional circumstances - and normally due to the requirements of the host - the word limit of certain projects may need to be exceeded. Any such cases need to be pre-approved by the academic project supervisor before submission. This will be worth 80% of the overall module mark. This assignment will focus on the production of a vocationally orientated piece of work that will be of value to the placement host organisation upon completion of the placement. For example, this may involve the production of a series of physical education plans tailored for the needs of a particular group (assessing LO's 1, 2, and 3)

2. An attendance register detailing the hours spent at the placement host. This should total 70 hours and all entries should be signed off by the placement mentor to confirm attendance (assessing LO's 1 and 2)

3. The portfolio will include a short reflective commentary of the student's experiences whilst on placement. This will be worth 20% of the overall mark (assessing LO 4)

Additional Assessment Details (including formative feedback / assessment):
Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via a series of mandatory meetings that they are required to attend with their University placement supervisor across the duration of their placement. Placement progress and review of draft work will be assessed during these meetings.
