Module Additional Assessment Details
A range of formative and summative assessment methods will be used which are appropriate to the teaching and learning delivery method, mode of attendance and proposed weighting criteria used for this module, and as reflected within the Scheme and Award specifications.
A contextualised and approved assessment strategy and schedule will be published to students by award.
Group discussions, group and individual independent working, class tasks and activities to reinforce learning, question and answer tasks, timed activities
Summative: (including % of final mark)
1. Written Rationale (3000 words) (addressing LO's 1, 2, 3, and 4)
2. Practical/ individual Presentation (10 - 15 mins) (addressing LO's 1, 2, 3 and 4)
Students must attempt all assessments and achieve an overall pass grade for the module.
Formative feedback will be provided in a variety of forms, including written feedback on proposed titles, outline assignment plans and full drafts. Feedback may take place via full-class, group and individual tutorials.
Module Indicative Content
- Exploration of key concepts within the disciplines of physical activity, exercise and health with particular reference to influences and detriments on health for participation in physical activity.
- Identify public health and physical activity needs and priorities as identified in current Government Policy imperatives.
- Definitions and development of health and physical activity promotion.
- Structure and organisation of health and physical activity promotion. Identification of the contributions made by physical activity and exercise specialists, health promoters, Government and national agencies
- Research and identification of the role played by and resources provided in selected settings for health and physical activity promotion; workplaces, schools, community, primary healthcare and hospitals.
- Physical activity behaviour models and analysis of approaches to bring about change
- Exploration of planning models used in the discipline and the evaluation of given promotion activities/programmes.
- Development of personal skills required for the effective planning, research and working with other professionals and clients in the delivery of health promotion/activities/programmes.
