Module Indicative Content
This module will :
- Analyse changes to coaching in the community
- Evaluate the effectiveness of partnership and collaboration in the delivery of coaching in a community context.
- Investigate how government policy is implemented in relation to the provision of coaching at a community level
- Critically analyse the success of such initiatives in meeting national, regional and local targets.
Module Learning Strategies
Students will follow a thirty week guided study programme and access support material via the college VLE. The module will consist of 3 hours per week.
The module will include:
90 taught contact hours (3 hours X 30 weeks)
- 2 hours taught
- 1 hour seminar discussion per week
210 Independent study hours
- 60 hrs background reading,
- 60 hrs assessment planning
- 90 hrs assessment writing
Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete 3 pieces of summative assessment.
(1) To deliver a 10 minute presentation that outlines the current government policies and partnerships. This should explain how these policies and partnerships are working at a local level to provide community sports opportunities. This is worth 40% of the module grade and assesses LO1 & 2.
(2) Design a multi-skills and community sports development strategy (1,000 words) for either a rural or urban environment. The strategy must clearly link with current initiatives. It must identify funding streams and explain links with County Sport Partnerships. This is worth 30% of the module grade and assesses LO3 &4.
(3) Deliver a 20 minute multi skills sports taster session in line with your strategy. This is worth 30% of the module grade and assesses LO4
