MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT

These projects will be focused on delivering local objectives to meet the needs of partners in relation to health, sport NGB's, voluntary and education sectors in their pursuit of growing and sustaining participation in sport and physical activity.

MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1: 20 min group presentation of project proposal to industry partner (40%) assessing learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3. Task: Participate in the production and presentation of information and arguments justifying a proposed sport project to staff and employers within the industry.

Assessment 2: 2000 word written reflective project portfolio (60%) assessing learning outcomes 1, 3 4 and 5. The project will develop from the proposal and require a portfolio to be produced of ideas which address equality and diversity issues, as well as how to increase participation in physical activity/sport, whilst developing detailed safety plans and a coordinated approach to the safe delivery of an event/initiative linked to the project.

Assessment 3: A diary recording the hours spent involved with the project. This should include all aspects of the planning and delivery of the project. This should total at least 18 hours and be included as an appendix in the portfolio. This is a 0% weighted assessment.

Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Formative feedback will be given in group and individual discussion during the workshop sessions for both assessments.
MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
The module consists of a series of tutor-lead lectures and workshops, which are delivered with a blended learning approach throughout the module’s duration. These sessions will also take the form of student-lead learning sessions, when appropriate to facilitate learning and development of knowledge and skills. There will be elements of project planning with support, as well as project delivery from students. Students will conduct independent study with background reading around topics covered in the module. Student-lead independent study will be required specifically for assessment preparation and development.
MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of both the well-established and contemporary concepts and principles within sport development and sport project management.
2. Communicate effectively information and arguments justifying a proposed sport project to staff and employers within the industry
3. Evaluate critically the differing needs of partners and propose ideas to assist with the identified need to develop and implement a project plan to provide for the needs.
4. Use a range of sport development and sport project management techniques and theoretical principles to initiate, develop and undertake a critical analysis of a sport project.
5. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the operational issues involved with delivering a project.
