Module Details
MODULE INDICATIVE CONENT
The module aims to consolidate and review coach education and the different types of learning- formal, informal and non-formal learning, whilst enabling you to apply knowledge and understanding from your own personal learning experiences of coach education (personal development), CPD, as well as the development of your craft (professional practice) and meeting professional standards. The module further provides students with guidance of reflective practice theory, utilising a framework from a select number of reflective frameworks, for example Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle (1984), Gibb’s Reflective Cycle (1988) or Bloom’s Taxonomy (1956). The reflective framework will enable focus upon development of specific skills, qualities and characteristics relevant to your future employment ambitions in sport, exercise and/or physical education. The specific personal and professional development topics within the module will change based upon current professional practice, research and standards.
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
The assessment for this module is a 12-minute podcast, which provides you with an opportunity to reflect upon key literature regarding continued professional development (CPD), your experience over the duration of your course and your development surrounding professional standards.
MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
A blended approach will be utilised on this module as a mixture of online and face to face lectures, supplemented by self-lead learning and reflection regards continued professional development (CPD) within a specific disciplinary area.

1. Consolidate and review a body of knowledge on coach education courses and their impact upon your own professional practice and continued professional development.
2. Critically reflect upon your own development and learning experiences over the duration of the course.
