Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module covers key aspect of the Physical Education National Curriculum that teachers would be expected to deliver in practice.

The module will cover the major aspects of technique applicable to dance, gymnastics, badminton and athletics. Basic theoretical principles underpinning movement and safety will be covered in respect of each activity. The module will also focus on the application of the principles of teaching, coaching and instruction to the four activities being covered.

During this module students will develop the ability to analyse performance and provide feedback in a range of different ways to support the learning of a participant. Students will utilise a variety of assessment techniques throughout the module and be exposed to teaching techniques such as self-assessment, peer assessment, summative and formative feedback.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
All four performance evaluations follow the same process. Students will watch a performance before answering a series of questions regards the performers competency and how they could improve their technique. The performance will last between 5-10 minutes and the exam will last one hour following the end of the performance. Assessing learning outcomes 1-3.

Formative assessment will be utilised throughout the module to ensure students are aware of how they could further improve their practice.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
This module will use a face-to-face approach to deliver lecture and seminars. Theoretical principles will be identified and discussed within lectures and enhanced by practical seminars. Students will be expected and encouraged to play an active part in seminars to provide the opportunity to work as an individual and as part of a group. Formative assessment will be used throughout the module to inform students of their learning and areas to further development. Lecture content and individual activities to support individual study will be provided via the University standard VLE (Blackboard).

WEB DESCRIPTORS
This practical module will look to develop and enhance students' skills in a range of national curriculum sports that are not traditionally taught/coached outside of teacher education. This will provide students with key fundamental knowledge that ensures they 'stand out' as they apply for roles within industry or apply for various teacher training routes.
