Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will require you to build upon their knowledge of research gained in the level 4 Developing Research Skills module. Within this module you will gain knowledge and understanding of research design, data collection methods, and data analysis skills. You will complete further data analysis skills in either quantitative or qualitative analysis as per the area of expertise their programme demands of them.

you will be required to apply your research skills by planning, conducting and analysing data for a small research project of qualitative or quantitative design relevant to their programme.

Finally, you will develop your own ideas on the dissertations projects in which you wish to undertake in level 6. This will include developing an understanding of how to construct a proposal and one to one meetings with relevant dissertation supervisors
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Students will complete two assessments

Learners are required to complete a research project. Learners will be provided a qualitative and quantitative project title relevant to their course of study, to which they must assign themselves. Learners are required to plan and conduct the project and analyse the data and write a 2000-word report on the project

2. Assessment 2- Dissertation Proposal Presentation (10 minutes). (50%) (LO1, 4)

The module will develop student's skills needed to conduct research in Sport and Exercise. These skills include reviewing the research process (such as what makes a good research question and accessing research literature); developing a critical level of thinking, writing a research report; using research methods to devise a suitable research question, understand the impact of research design, conduct appropriate research analysis using appropriate software and interpret outputs.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of research methodologies and analyses

2. Collect, analyse and interpret primary data in order to address a research question/hypothesis, or vocationally - relevant problem

3. Demonstrate numeracy and problem-solving skills and to be technologically, digitally and information literate

4. Apply an in-depth knowledge and understanding to an appropriate area in sport, health and exercise to plan a safe and ethically considered research proposal
