ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Practical assessment: The students will be required to demonstrate and coach the Clean & Jerk or Snatch Olympic lifts in line with recognised industry certification expectations. This will assess Learning Outcome 1.¿

Literature review: Students will be required to critically evaluate peer-reviewed academic literature concerning the development of a performance attribute in a chosen population, for example strength, power, speed, change of direction ability etc in a specific athletic population. This will assess Learning Outcome 2.¿¿¿
INDICATIVE CONTENT
The module will provide students with an understanding of fitness testing and corresponding training approaches for flexibility, agility, speed, power, strength, muscular endurance and energy systems. Skills developed include, but aren’t limited to weightlifting, weightlifting derivative and plyometric training for developing strength-speed, power and speed-strength.

This module will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the principles of strength and conditioning and develop your ability to perform key strength and conditioning exercises, including, but not limited to the Olympic Weightlifting core lifts, weightlifting derivatives, plyometric, speed and agility exercises. ¿

This module provides learning opportunities that will enable you to critically appraise the peer-reviewed academic literature to support the development of optimal training protocols for developing physical performance.¿
LEARNING STRATEGIES
A variety of teaching and learning techniques will be utilised to meet the diverse needs of our students. These techniques include, but are not limited to, problem-based learning, context-based learning, simulation, and peer to peer learning. This approach ensures that students can contextualise their knowledge and understanding to best prepare them for employment.¿

This module will be predominantly taught via tutor led classroom-based activities and practical applied learning sessions. Students will be taught the theoretical concepts underpinning strength and conditioning and then supported in applying them practically in strength and conditioning environments.¿
