ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Summative:
The assessment consists of a 15-minute practical coaching session. You are required to demonstrate an applied understanding of the coaching process by delivering a session that reflects an informed and purposeful coaching pedagogy. The session should develop an aspect of performance and utilise appropriate strategies/ approaches, have a clear session structure, and demonstrate effective communication.
Formative:
Formative assessment will form a key aspect of preparing students for their summative assessment. All students will receive a formative assessment opportunity as part of the module.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module explores coaching pedagogy and its influence on practice in sport and physical activity settings. Students will examine key theories of learning and development and how these inform coaching decisions, session design and participant engagement.
The module also focuses on pedagogical decision making, exploring how coaches adapt their approaches based on context, experience and individual needs, and developing an understanding of how and why coaching practice is shaped by pedagogical thinking.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
In this module, you will explore the principles of coaching pedagogy and how they shape the way effective sessions are taught and delivered. Through immersive and simulated learning activities, you will experience different pedagogical approaches in practice and reflect on how they can be applied to create inclusive sessions that meet the needs of all participants. Alongside these experiences, you will engage with theory to understand how pedagogical choices influence coaching practice. This learning culminates in the design and delivery of your own coaching session, where you put theory into practice and critically evaluate your approach.
