ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Summative

Students will be assessed on one of the four national curriculum sports undertaken throughout the module. In the assessment, students will observe a performance of a skill or component of that sport for 10 minutes, followed by 50 minutes to provide a written analysis, including proposed corrective teaching practices to improve the performance.

Formative

Formative assessment will form a key aspect of preparing students for their summative assessment. All students will receive a formative assessment opportunity as part of the module.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module covers key aspects of the Physical Education National Curriculum that teachers would be expected to deliver in practice.

The module will cover the major aspects of technique applicable to badminton, swimming, dance and athletics. Basic theoretical principles underpinning movement and safety will be covered in respect of each activity. The module will also focus on the application of the principles of teaching, coaching and instruction to the four activities covered.

During this module, you will develop the ability to analyse performance and provide feedback in a range of different ways to support the learning of a participant. You will utilise a variety of assessment techniques throughout the module and be exposed to teaching techniques such as self-assessment, peer assessment, summative and formative feedback.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Use digital technologies to critically analyse performance and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key features of effective technique in dance, swimming, badminton and athletics.

Learning Outcome: PLO1; Knowledge and Understanding, PLO4; Digital Literacy

2. Correctly identify faults and apply appropriate corrective practices in dance, swimming, badminton and athletics.

Learning Outcome: PLO2; Application and Problem Solving, PLO6; Communication
LEARNING STRATEGIES
This module will use a face-to-face approach. Theoretical principles will be identified and discussed within early lectures, which are then applied in subsequent practical sessions. You will be expected and encouraged to play an active part in practical sessions to engage with the sport, perform skills and analyse peers. Formative assessment will be used to ensure you have a practical opportunity to hone your analytical skills before the summative assessments. Lecture content and individual activities to support individual study will be provided via the University standard VLE (Blackboard).
