Module Additional Assessment Details
A COURSEWORK COACHING PORTFOLIO length 2500 words

Students will be required to complete 1 piece of summative assessment:
1. A 2500 word coursework portfolio assessing LOs 1, 2 and 3.

Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via:
Seminar sessions will provide the opportunity for students to present their analysis of a situation and share
knowledge and experiences. A short (500 word) in class practice essay will be matched to assessment criteria
in a seminar / workshop session.

Module Indicative Content
The module aims to provide students with an advanced level of knowledge in selected contemporary issues in sports
coaching. The topics will vary according to topical issues apparent at the time of delivery, but indicative content
would include: the role of the various agencies involved in the promotion and development of sport (NGBs,
Sport England, International Sports Federations, National and Local Government), ethics in coaching, child abuse in sport, role of the coach, coaching sport at the elite level, coach education strategies including developing the coach as a reflective practitioner, profiling the successful modern day coach and analysing contemporary perspectives of the coach-athlete relationship.
