Module Indicative Content
The module will provide students with an in-depth knowledge of sports development and the process and models
that underpin the rationale of this growing area of both sport policy and industry. Sports deelopment plans
and programmes will be studied in the context of academic research, enabling the student to both study the
subject of sports development, as well as acquire some key vocational skills. Major current national projects
will be studied, providing an example of the changing nature and impacts upon sports development and
the inter-relationships of organisations concerned. Sport England's programmes will be considered and their
implementation in the local community studied. The aims and effectiveness of contemporary sports development
will also be evaluated in the context of trends in participation, organisational structures and government policy.
