Module Details
Module Indicative Content
The module aims to provide students with an advanced level of knowledge in the design of an annual training
programme for a sports performer: including the concept of periodisation, problems associated with overtraining,
altitude training, monitoring of training and peaking of performance.
Module Learning Strategies
12 x 1 hour tutor-led lecture programme
12 x 1 hour student / tutor-led workshop sessions
24 hours tutor-directed independent study
102 hours student-led independent study
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete 1 piece of summative assessment:
1. An annual training plan plus 1500 word justification of the plan. (assesses LOs 1 and 2).

Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via:
Workshop sessions will continually provide feedback on progress as each workshop will contribute towards the final
summative assessment.
