There is one assessment for this module:
A written report weighted at 100%, consisting of 2500 words. Assesses all LO's.
Additional Assessment Details (including formative feedback / assessment:
The report will incorporate a team and an individual report. Content will include team’s critical comments and the individual’s critical reflections on the team’s: market/background research; marketing objectives and strategies; marketing promotion activities and strategies; monitoring and evaluation activities and results; and evidence of all of the team’s activities. In addition, the individual report will include a reflection on professional development in relation to the student’s chosen career path. Students should try to make the most of their existing knowledge acquired from other disciplines within sport and exercise that they are studying/have studied to inform the content of the report.
Students will be provided with the opportunity to practice their skills relevant to the report, through: mock practice, e.g., a pitch to relevant businesses/individuals; and other formative tasks and activities, Formative feedback will be provided from these activities.

INDICATIVE CONTENT
The overall aim of this module is to develop skills in aspects of: business planning, marketing, promotion, financial planning, communication, IT, and practically-relevant areas of sport and exercise, in order to offer a sports-related, student-ran business at the University. The essence of the business will be to offer a health, fitness and sports science support service, incorporating aspects of the following: sports science support; lifestyle assessment; health education; coaching; coach education and professional development; injury prevention; sport/exercise rehabilitation; nutrition; and personal training, depending on student skill base.
Learning Strategies
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (52 hours) 27 hours Lectures/workshops/practical sessions which are tutor led - 9 x 3 hour sessions 12 hours Small group tutorials -4 x 3 hour sessions 16 hours Student-led sessions with tutor support - 4 x 4 hours Guided Independent Study: (98 hours) 40 hours Reading and research, to support tutor-led sessions and report 10 hours Group planning 24 hours Preparation/delivery of student-led sessions 24 hours Preparation of report
