Learning Strategies
Lectures, workshops & Independent learning time will be split between time spent at your host organisation (minimum 200 hours - equivalent to a day a week over 2 semesters) & independent study & research taken up with the research, planning, design and execution of your assigned project & other assessment work.

OneNote Portfolio compromising of one large reflection of the module and several mini reflections on scenarios within the students internal or external placement.
Indicative Content
To enable students to gain experience working within a sports therapy related environment and to make an effective contribution to the operation of the host organisation.
Students may choose to attend a placement from a selection of University approved partners (subject to availability) or may negotiate a placement independently of their choice subject to certain qualifying criteria. Examples of work placement host organisations may include sports therapy / injury clinics, sports teams, health clubs, or related organisations such as physiotherapy / osteopathy clinics etc...
Students should undertake placements at a minimum of 2 different organisations. Ideally these will be from different areas of sports therapy (e.g. a sports injury clinic and a sports team, or a physiotherapy practice and a health club) to gain as much global experience of the industry as possible. It is expected that these placements will change approximately mid-way through the module (Christmas time) and should be of roughly equal length.
Learning Strategies
The total learning time for this module is 300 hours. Compromising of 24 hours of formal teaching and 276 hours of guided independent study.

24 hours tutor-directed independent study (inc online blended learning tasks)
30 hours in assessment preparation
22 hours student-led independent study
200 hours practical experience

The module will also cover aspects of continued personal development, career options and development of a sports therapy business.

A portfolio
A written assignment - business / marketing plan
A short presentation of a business / marketing plan
A reflective commentary based upon their learning and performance on placement
A portfolio of Society of Sports Therapy competencies
A record of achieved learning outcomes linked to an activity logbook whilst on active placement
