Indicative Content
This module will develop student's understanding of children's social development through sport and physical education. It will also critically analyse the national curriculum and evaluate the impact of physical education on young people. Students will be expected to evaluate their own experiences and analyse the role that PE and school sport is perceived to have in contemporary society.
Assessment Details
A 2500 word piece of coursework weighted at 100% (addressing all LO's).
Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Formative learning will be mainly via discussions within seminar situations and via independent study.
Students will be required to undertake guided tasks and preparatory reading ahead of seminars to create an informed discussion about topical issues.
Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via: directed independent learning tasks, activities and discussion in seminars & workshops and the opportunity to attend one-to-one and /or small group tutorials. Feedback is also available from staff via email communication and on Blackboard, where general feedback to the group will be provided for assessments and independent tasks.

Learning Strategies
This module contains a combination of face to face and blended learning. Lectures and seminars will be interactive and require full participation. Some seminars will be student led and facilitated by the lecturer.Independent study tasks will be set but further idependant study will be required. This may include reading around module topics, discussion based activities or investigating current theories associated wth the module. Student led independant study will be required specifcally for assessment preparation.
