Module Indicative Content
- Pedagogical strategies; relationship between coaching and teaching; reflective coaching; informational flow; managerial and organisational skills; the value of goals; providing information.
- Coaching as teaching: sports skills, life skills and life chances. Models of Learning Kolb, learning cycle for coaching. Putting young people first
- Implementing Technology teaching and coaching. The benefits of being analytical
- Words in research; reliability, validity, objectivity, accuracy, precision. Difficulties in measuring, issues with proving quality.
- Methods used to analyse performance; Use of technology, pro zone, Hawkeye, dart fish. Observational analysis, clustering. Statistical analysis, Profiling, wagon wheel analysis.
- Designing the learning environment and supporting tasks; session design, including content to suit athletes abilities and needs; accountability; encourage athletes to become peer responsible; feedback
- Dynamical Systems theory approach, constraints process and behaviour change.
- The art of demonstration, strategies to improve effectiveness
- Learners will analyse an individual or a team performance and based upon this plan and deliver several sessions to change athlete behaviour
- Learners will evaluate coaching practices upon the course and make a development plan
Module Additional Assessment Details
A range of formative and summative assessment methods will be used which are appropriate to the teaching and learning delivery method, mode of attendance and proposed weighting criteria used for this module.
A contextualised and approved assessment strategy and schedule will be published to students by award.
Assessment 1 ¿ A video interview 40% (15mins) LO 1,2
Assessment 2 ¿ Blog evaluation based on practical coaching sessions 60% LO3,4,5.
Formative feedback will be provided in a variety of forms, including written feedback on proposed titles, outline assignment plans and full drafts and verbal feedback.
