Module Details
LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Critically evaluate the role and effect of the advanced and specified football coach in delivering coaching to a particular skilled, targeted individual or group. (Knowledge & Understanding)

2. Design, deliver and critically reflect upon coaching sessions to develop specialist populations. (E.g. Adult or Youth Football, Futsal, Goalkeepers, Disability Footballers). (Analysis, Problem Solving, Communication, Application, Reflection)

3. Conduct a tactical analysis on a football team, evaluate strengths and justify areas for future development. (Problem Solving, Analysis, Reflection)
INDICATIVE CONTENT
The central aim of the module is for learners to be equipped with the skills and knowledge relevant to the coaching of different and specialist populations.
Teaching will include community initiatives and the role of the coach in this process, coaching within different environments, coaching in line with specific Football Association strategies, coaching of specialist populations, planning for Long Term Athlete Development of the footballer, differentiation within coaching, analysis of performance to inform coaching practice and planning and the tactical analysis of a football team.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1 – 2 coaching sessions (max 30 mins each), plans and critical reflections (500 words each reflection) of these two coaching sessions weighted at 70% of the modular assessment grade, assessing learning outcomes 1 and 2.

Assessment 2 – A 10 minute presentation on a tactical analysis of a football team to include evaluation of key strengths and justification of areas to develop. This would provide 30% of the module grade and assess learning outcome 3.

Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):

Formative feedback will be received throughout the module tasks and within seminar based activities. Students will complete peer and self-assessment on coaching sessions delivered to peers in preparation for assessed activities. Module leader will offer feedback and areas for improvement.

All elements of assessment, including any reflective work, must be supported by references to appropriate literature and referenced according to appropriate academic conventions within APA style.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Direct contact: 78 Hours over 26 weeks. 2 hours per week be dedicated to coaching practice and development and 1 hour per week to the theoretical requirements of the module, planning and reflection.

Independent Study Hours: 222 Hours.
