Module Details
Indicative Content
The module will critically examine sport as a tool for contributing to the achievement of international development objectives. Critical consideration will be given to the concept and function of global sport in development in selected countries. Sports in development projects and programmes will be studied in the context of academic research, enabling the student to both examine the subject of global sport in development, as well as acquire some key vocational skills. Previous and current international projects will be reviewed, providing examples of the changing nature and impacts upon sports in development and the inter relationships of organisations concerned.

Domestic and global government motives for involvement in sport in development will be considered and the aims and effectiveness of contemporary sports development schemes will also be evaluated in the context of organisational structures and policy.
Assessment Details
Each element of assessment must be submitted.

1. An individual 20 minute presentation weighted at (50%) meeting LO's 2 & 3
Demonstrating facilitation skills by aiding a group discussion on an issue relevant to the topic.

2. A 1,500 word evaluation report (50% weighting) from topics identified by the module leader. This will contribute to LO 1. (Final)

Feedback will be provided on presentations plans and during blended learning seminars.
