Module Details
Indicative Content
Initially this module aims to further develop students understanding of the concepts and uses of match analysis in sport. Students will gain further knowledge of the methods for notational and games analysis and will be able to identify important performance indicators for analysis. The module intends to provide a critical engagement in the differing techniques for data collection within match analysis for the individual or team performer. Students will gain further practical experience of utilising notation systems for analysis.

The second part of the module critically reviews the utility and effectiveness of a range of recent technological innovations in sports coaching (e.g. GPS, motion analysis applications on phones, use of social media ,you tube etc). This part of the module will critically review the opportunities and challenges that various technology innovations present to the modern day coaching professional.
Assessment Details
Assessment 1
A 15 minute individual presentation on a match analysis case that the student has self-selected and prepared. (assessing LO's 1 and 2) worth 50% of the overall module assessment grade.

Assessment 2

Develop a blog that critically reviews the utility and effectiveness of 2 types of technologies e.g. GPS, a specific mobile phone app etc) that are designed to improve the effectiveness of the contemporary coach. This assessment is worth 50% of the module’s assessment grade, assessing learning outcomes 3 and 4 (2000 words). Final assessment.

Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):

Formative feedback will be received throughout the module tasks and within practical and seminar based activities. Module staff will offer feedback and areas for improvement.

All elements of assessment, including any reflective work, must be supported by references to appropriate literature and referenced according to appropriate academic conventions within APA style.

Each element of assessment must be submitted.
