Indicative Content
The module will provide students with an in depth knowledge of the business of sports development and the approaches taken in the private, public and voluntary sectors. Sports development policy priorities and interventions will be studied in the context of academic research, enabling the student to both critically examine the subject of sports development, as well as acquire key self and career management skills. You will develop skills in aspects of: business and sports development planning, innovating, marketing, promotion, financial planning, communication and IT. The aims and effectiveness of contemporary sports development schemes will also be evaluated in the context of trends in participation, organisational structures and government policy. The aim of this module is to enable students to produce a creative and innovative evidence based business plan and to effectively communicate their own personal narrative on their skills and attitudes.
Assessment Details
1. A 1500 word Planning document weighted at (60%) meeting LO 1 & 2
Through the completion of an evidenced based business plan
2. A 15-minute oral presentation of personal narrative on self and career management (40%) meeting LO 3 Final assessment.
Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Feedback will be given on a formative presentation of the proposed intervention enabling valuable formative assessment of work prior to final submission. The method of presenting will also provide formative feedback on presentation skills required for assessment 2.
