Indicative Content
This module is designed to give sports therapy students an understanding of key issues relating to business management, development and entrepreneurism.
On completion of the module students will have the tools and knowledge to plan and develop their own business and will have an in depth understanding of the working environment they are likely to be working in as a sports therapist.
Key concepets covered will include: common operational issues and management; managing and employing staff; starting a company (sole trader vs limited company); implications of VAT and corporate taxes; marketing your company (including SWOT analysis and the development of the 4 P’s); branding and advertising; and financial considerations (including cash flow forcasts, budgetary issues etc…)
A series of guest lecturers will be presenting their stories and talking about how they became successful in their careers / businesses. These will include successful local business leaders, sports therapists, physiotherpists etc… This information should be used to inspire business ideas and potentially help to guide furture career chocies and development.

1. DEVELOP A KNOWLEDGE OF, AND CRITICALLY EVALUATE, KEY ISSUES RELATING TO THE GLOBAL SPORTS THERAPY INDUSTRY AND THE DEVELOPMENT / MARKETING OF A SPORTS THERAPY RELATED BUSINESS.

1. Online Business Qualification 30% 1hour
2. Develop and Present a Business Plan 70% 2000 words or equivalent

The total learning time for this module is¿150¿hours. Comprising of¿29 hours of formal teaching and¿121¿hours of guided independent study.
