Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
Lectures, seminars and practical’s will explore strategies for inspiring learning in schools, physical education and youth sport. Positive behaviour management will be a key strand of work as will a focus on planning for outstanding lessons. There will be opportunities to compare how different countries deliver their education and PE structures. The module is aimed at developing reflective practice as a basis for a career in teaching or school related youth sport.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Coursework - Optional assessment. Students will have the opportunity to complete ONE of the below assessment methods worth 100% of the module.

1. 20-minute viva supported with evidence portfolio. Students must demonstrate how they have developed their understanding of inspirational teaching, new pedagogies, lesson planning and behaviour management in a RECENT teaching and coaching placement (LO1,2&3)
OR
2. 20-minute recorded presentation. Students will focus on their knowledge of the literature around how to effectively inspire learning using a range of inspirational teaching pedagogies linked to their desired career. (LO1,2 &3)

Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):

Formative feedback will be given throughout via lectures, seminars, practicals and tutorials.
Blackboard activities including reading prompts and ideas for further study will also support this module.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
This module utilises a tutor-lead face to face teaching approach. Lectures and seminars will be interactive and require full participation. Some seminars will be student led and facilitated by the lecturer. There will be practical elements to the course and again participation will be vital. Independent study tasks will be set but further independent study will be required. This may include reading around module topics, discussion-based activities or investigating current theories associated with the module. Student led independent study will be required specifically for assessment preparation. Students are offered the opportunity to revisit a placement host and reflect upon their experience.
