Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module aims to develop your knowledge and understanding in the planning, conduct and reporting of a specific project of your choice. You will conduct a project where you will identify a topic for research and subsequently design and conduct an appropriate study, analysing and interpreting data, and producing an appropriate output relevant to your project. Aligned with this project, you will have to produce a project proposal in a poster format (including ethical consideration and risk assessment, where appropriate), articulating their background information, the problem, rationale, methods, and other appropriate strategies. This flexible module enables you to choose a topic of interest and type of assessment which is best suited to your current areas of interest and career aspirations.
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
ASSESSMENT 1
Project Proposal
You will produce a written project proposal outlining the proposed programme of work. This could include their area of focus, plans, costings, ethical considerations, and risk assessment (where appropriate). This assessment will assess Learning Outcome 1.

ASSESSMENT 2
Option 1: Written Report
The student will produce a written report of their research, which provides the background, methodology, results, and discussion of their project’s findings. Subsequently reflecting on the project by identifying the future impact of project and limitations to the project. This assessment will assess Learning Outcomes 2 and 3

Option 2: Portfolio Presentation
You will present, with supporting evidence your individual project. Identifying a need within industry or with a respective partner, you will research, implement and review the project and the findings, which will be delivered in the form of a presentation. It will be important to reflect on the project identifying the future impact of project and limitations. This assessment will assess Learning Outcomes 2 and 3. The allotted time includes a period of Q+A.

Option 3: Podcast(s)
You will deliver a podcast/series of podcasts on your researched area demonstrating an in-depth knowledge and critical understanding of a key aspect or conceptual theory related to physical education and/ sports coaching. This will include reflecting upon the importance and impact of your topic and surrounding discussions, exploring probable future developments and specific barriers/limitations. This assessment will assess Learning Outcomes 2 and 3.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
We are committed to providing an environment that supports and encourages you to develop your knowledge, understanding and technical skills related to a specific topic. To achieve this, we use a variety of teaching and learning techniques to meet the diverse needs of our student cohort. These techniques include, but are not limited to, problem-based learning, context-based learning, simulation, practical observations, and peer to peer learning. This approach ensures that you can contextualise your knowledge and understanding to best prepare yourself for employment. This module is predominantly studied independently. At the beginning of the module, you will receive a series of tutor-led sessions that outline the module expectations, including the supporting documentation and submission guidelines. You will be allocated a supervisor who will provide advice and guidance on your project, over an extended period. You will be expected to engage independently with the evidence associated with your topic and manage your own time effectively to keep the project on schedule.

This is your opportunity to complete a project which focuses upon an aspect of physical education &/ sports coaching that you have a specific interest in, which can help facilitate career aspirations/ambitions, as well as providing you with a multitude of research skills. The employability skills developed during this module are transferable across a range of sporting industries and should help provide students with the flexibility to tailor their assessment to support potential career development.
