Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module further develops students’ understanding of the principles of Strength and Conditioning and their ability to perform advanced practical elements of Strength and Conditioning Sport Science. Students will build upon their learning from previous modules and develop advanced level coaching strategies utilising applied coaching science for specific components of performance for individual athletes. Such coaching strategies could include the constraints lead approach to developing athletic performance and movement literacy. The students will develop their professional experience and digital fluency through the delivery of a high-quality teaching presentation.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
The students will be required to produce and present a high-quality teaching presentation on their delivery of a practical training session for the development of fine or gross motor skills in either a performance or rehabilitation setting. The presentation must include short video clips of the students’ applying salient aspects of the protocol. The students will present their presentation to a live audience of their peers and academic staff. The presentation assesses learning outcomes 1 & 2
LEARNING STRATEGIES
This module incorporates a tutor-lead lecture programme and practical sessions. Students will be required to conduct tutor-directed independent study, as well as student-lead enquiry and reading into research around the topics of the science of exercise prescription covered in the module. Online platforms will be utilised to support the delivery of the module. It will host resources and additional independent learning tasks for students to complete. Formative assessment will be incorporated throughout the module and regular peer feedback will be a feature of the delivery.
