Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module is designed to facilitate a successful transition into diverse professional careers by providing targeted, practical experience.

Students are required to undertake a 100-hour professional placement in a setting aligned with their specific career goal, whether in Sport and Exercise Science (SES), Strength and Conditioning (S&C), or Teaching/Education.

Students will focus on the critical application of discipline-specific knowledge (e.g., pedagogical methods, athlete monitoring, or physiological assessment) to address real-world challenges within their host organisation.

Key areas of learning include mastering professional self-presentation, advanced reflective practice to link experience with career competencies, and engaging in effective stakeholder communication with diverse populations (e.g., students, athletes, clients, or patients).

The module content is designed to enable students to evidence and articulate their professional readiness, directly preparing them for post-graduation employment in their chosen field.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
This assessment is designed to simulate a real-world job application and interview process, utilising the reflections and experiences gained during your professional placement. You will begin by selecting one of the provided 'job opportunities' and submitting a CV and cover letter for the role. Following this, you will attend a short 'mock' job interview. This interview will feature academic staff, members of the careers and employability team, and real-life employers, and will feature relevant questions typical of a professional environment. Your performance must be supported by evidence drawn from your reflective log maintained throughout the placement, alongside other professional experiences. Upon completion, you will receive a grade and detailed feedback from industry experts on how to improve in future interviews, including key actions to secure your desired career path.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
You will spend most of this module developing skills, experience, and expertise on your chosen placement. Contact time on campus will be limited to ensure you have the time and space to achieve the required hours, but there will be employability focused sessions to ensure you can further develop your CV and application skills, as well as an opportunity for practice interviews to prepare you for your assessment and future interview opportunities.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Critically reflect on your professional strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and biases.

Communicate experiences of relevant placement opportunities within an interview setting, exploring transferable skills and professional competencies.
RESOURCES
Access to an appropriate PC, with accompanying software including Office 365 (MS Teams, One-Drive, Word, PowerPoint et al.), Adobe, and JAMOVI.
