Module Resources
Access to a Video/DVD Camera and tapes/DVD?s. Course textbooks and learning materials as suggested above. Access to PC with word processing and PowerPoint programmes and internet. To access Blackboard you must have a PC running Windows NT4, 95, 98, 2000 or XP or a Macintosh. You must also have either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator 4.0 or above. Remote access to library facilities.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete 2 pieces of summative assessment.

1. A video/DVD of an initial session with a client (individual or group) relating to an aspect of either sport or exercise psychology (approx 40 - 50 minutes). This is worth 50% of the module grade. This assessment covers learning outcome 1.

2. A reflection of the session (2,000 words), worth 50% of the module grade. This assessment covers learning outcomes 2 and 3.

Additional Assessment Details:
Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via on-line tasks and discussions.
When interacting with the client/client group you are bound by the BPS code of conduct. You will find this on the BPS website and a link is provided in your award handbook. For ethical reasons all proposals to conduct a session with a client/client group will be scrutinised carefully with regard to ethical and risk issues and approval must be given before the session is conducted.

Module Learning Strategies
Students will follow a nine week guided study programme and access support material via Blackboard. Students will be required to access additional support material independently. Understanding of key concepts will be self-assessed via questions posed on Blackboard and tutor feedback will be provided.
Module Indicative Content
This module considers issues pertinent to the practice of sport and exercise psychology. First, the skills required to practice effectively (e.g., counselling skills, communication skills and reflective practice) are considered, Second, issues surrounding the delivery of psychological interventions to different groups (e.g., young athletes, disabled athletes) are considered. Finally, selected ethical issues that may arise during the consultancy process in sport and exercise settings are considered.
